Industry and Entrepreneurship Council

Industry and Entrepreneurship Council (IEC) works to strengthen collaboration among academia, industry, and society to promote innovation, skill development, and enterprise creation. The Council supports initiatives that bridge the gap between education and employability, encourage research commercialization, and foster both social and business entrepreneurship. It facilitates mentorship, training, incubation opportunities, and the establishment of IFERD social enterprises aimed at generating employment and supporting the long-term sustainability of the Federation. Promoting entrepreneurship for sustainable economic and societal development remains one of the core objectives of the Council. To ensure effective outreach and impact from the local to the global level, the Council shall function at the International, National, State, and District levels. Industry and Entrepreneurship Council has been established to achieve the following objectives:

  • To catalyze innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among students, professionals, and emerging leaders.
  • To build and strengthen linkages between academia, industry, and entrepreneurial ecosystems to enhance practical learning and employability.
  • To promote and support startup development through incubation, mentorship, and access to networks and resources.
  • To facilitate industry-oriented training, skill development, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • To encourage commercialization of research, innovation, and technology for real-world applications.
  • To enable the creation and growth of IFERD social enterprises to generate employment and ensure sustainable impact.
  • To organize and drive industry interactions, entrepreneurship development programs, and innovation-focused events.
  • To promote ethical, inclusive, and sustainable business practices and responsible entrepreneurship.
  • To identify and assess emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in industry and entrepreneurship.
  • To forge and expand national and international partnerships with industries, startups, incubators, and professional bodies.
  • To contribute to economic development, job creation, and innovation-led growth through strategic initiatives. 
  • To undertake such other functions as may be assigned by the General Assembly, Board of Directors, or the Secretariat from time to time.

Industry and Entrepreneurship Council may constitute specialized Committees to undertake focused initiatives in areas such as industry collaboration, entrepreneurship development, innovation, skill development, and enterprise growth. Each Committee shall function within its assigned scope while contributing to the overall objectives of the Council. The following Committees have been constituted at present:

  • Industry Research and Innovation Committee 
  • Industry Collaboration and Srategic Partnerships Committee
  • Startup Support and Incubation Committee
  • Skill Development, Training and Capacity Building Committee
  • Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Development Committee
