Social Welfare and Development Council

Social Welfare and Development Council (SWDC) is dedicated to promoting inclusive development and community well-being. The Council undertakes initiatives aimed at improving access to primary education, basic healthcare, and livelihood opportunities for underprivileged and marginalized communities. It also supports programs related to environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment, and social entrepreneurship to create meaningful and lasting social impact. To ensure effective outreach and service from the local to the global level, the Council shall function at the International, National, State, and District levels. Social Welfare and Development Council has been established to achieve the following objectives:

  • To promote inclusive and sustainable development by addressing social, educational, and economic challenges through knowledge-driven initiatives.
  • To encourage community engagement and social responsibility among members, institutions, and stakeholders.
  • To facilitate and support initiatives related to education, health, livelihood, and social well-being, particularly for underserved communities.
  • To empower individuals and communities through awareness programs, capacity building, and skill development initiatives.
  • To promote gender equality, social justice, and human dignity through advocacy, awareness, and collaborative efforts.
  • To collaborate with government bodies, institutions, NGOs, and community organizations for effective implementation of welfare and development initiatives.
  • To identify and address region-specific social challenges through research, dialogue, and targeted interventions.
  • To organize outreach programs, awareness campaigns, and community engagement activities.
  • To promote sustainable and responsible practices that contribute to long-term social and environmental well-being.
  • To encourage research, documentation, and knowledge sharing in areas related to social welfare and development.
  • To facilitate access to opportunities, resources, and support systems for disadvantaged and marginalized groups.
  • To strengthen community participation and leadership to build self-reliant and resilient societies.
  • To execute such other functions as may be assigned by the General Assembly, Board of Directors, or the Secretariat from time to time.

Social Welfare and Development Council may constitute specialised Committees to promote community engagement, capacity building, inclusion, sustainability, and collaborative initiatives for effective social development. The following Committees have been constituted at present:

  • Education and Capacity Building Committee
  • Health and Well-being Committee
  • Rural and Community Development Committee
  • Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection Committee
