Arts and Culture Promotion Council

Arts and Culture Promotion Council (ACPC) fosters diverse forms of artistic and cultural expression across communities. It supports cultural education, creative industries, and artistic initiatives while fostering intercultural dialogue and collaboration. By bringing together artists, educators, researchers, and institutions, the Council seeks to enhance cultural understanding, inclusivity, and the preservation and promotion of cultural knowledge for future generations. To ensure effective outreach and service from the local to the global level, the Council shall operate at the International, National, State, and District levels. Arts and Culture Promotion Council has been established to achieve the following objectives:

  • To promote and showcase the diverse traditions, cultural heritage, and artistic expressions of the States and Union Territories of India.
  • To encourage and support the documentation of traditional art forms, folk practices, languages, and cultural heritage across regions.
  • To provide platforms for artists, artisans, and cultural practitioners to present their work in art, craft, music, dance, and literature.
  • To encourage cultural exchange between States to promote unity and appreciation of India’s diversity.
  • To organize cultural festivals, exhibitions, workshops, and related events.
  • To promote awareness of arts and culture among students and youth through educational initiatives.
  • To encourage research and documentation of regional traditions and cultural practices.
  • To involve local communities in preserving and promoting their cultural identity.
  • To collaborate with cultural institutions, government bodies, and other organizations.
  • To use digital platforms to promote Indian arts and culture at national and global levels.
  • To strengthen national unity by celebrating cultural diversity and shared heritage.
  • To undertake any other functions as assigned by the General Assembly, Board of Directors, or the Secretariat.

Arts and Culture Promotion Council may constitute specialized committees to promote, support, and showcase the diverse cultural heritage and artistic expressions of India. These committees shall focus on specific areas such as languages, literature, traditional and visual arts, performing arts, and community engagement, enabling structured initiatives and wider participation. State Arts and Culture Promotion Committees shall be established across various States and Union Territories to facilitate localized cultural promotion and inter-state cultural exchange. All Committees shall function in coordination with the Council to enhance outreach, encourage participation, and contribute to the preservation and promotion of India’s rich cultural diversity. The following Committees have been constituted at present:

  • Cultural Research, Documentation and Publications Committee
  • State Arts and Culture Committees (for each State and Union Territory) 
  • Literature and Languages Committee (For each language recognised under the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution)   
  • Traditional Arts and Cultural Heritage Committee
  • Performing Arts Committee
  • Visual Arts and Handicrafts Committee
